The reasoning for Frank being banned is, “portray[ing] Jews, Israel or Zionism favorably.” Brown was banned after Catholic leaders deemed his writings offensive to Christianity.
Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell was banned by the Soviet Union in 1950, as Stalin understood that it was a satire based on his leadership. It was nearly banned in the United States and United Kingdom in the early 1960’s during the Curban Missile Crisis. It was not until 1990 that the USSR legalized the book and it was re-released after some editing.
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was banned in the province of Hunan, China for portraying anthropomorphism animals acting on the same level as humans.
